London Police warn public after series of distraction-type thefts

Investigators note this scam typically involves exchanging imitation jewelry for valuable pieces.

The London Police Service is seeking public assistance after responding to a series of distraction-type thefts and attempted thefts between November 2025 and January 2026.

On November 24th, a woman near Aldersbrook and Brandy Lane roads was approached by a female in a light-coloured four-door vehicle offering flowers and a necklace. During the interaction, the suspect removed two gold bracelets before fleeing.

On January 10th, a woman near Lawson Road and Blue Forest Drive was approached by a female in a black four-door vehicle asking for money for a sick parent. The suspect touched the victim’s neck, appearing to search for jewelry, but left without taking anything.

Investigators note this scam typically involves exchanging imitation jewelry for valuable pieces and warn there may be additional victims. The cases have been reassigned to the Patrol Operations Investigative Section. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the London Police Service.
