Ontario invests $2.47M in Ingersoll stormwater project to support housing growth

Mayor Brian Petrie welcomed the funding, calling the pond a “critical step” to support new homes.

The Town of Ingersoll is set to receive $2,472,875 in provincial funding to support housing and community growth. The investment comes through Ontario’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), part of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program.

The funding will be used to build a stormwater management pond, which will serve as the foundation for the town’s growing Multi-Use Recreation Centre (MURC) campus. The campus will include a new school and daycare facility in partnership with the Thames Valley District School Board, as well as a long-term care home in collaboration with peopleCare.

Mayor Brian Petrie welcomed the funding, calling the pond a “critical step” to support new homes, community services, and flood prevention.

The stormwater project will not only enhance safety and environmental protection but also create jobs, add green space, and prepare Ingersoll for long-term growth under Ontario’s $200 billion capital plan.
