It is a busy agenda for Oxford County Council when they meet on Wednesday
Oxford County Council will meet with several major updates and reports on the agenda.
Councillors will review the newly updated Oxford County Emergency Management Program and Emergency Plan, which now aligns with Ontario legislation and the Incident Management System model. The plan outlines the top risks facing the county, including extreme heat, poor air quality, cybersecurity threats, winter weather and infectious disease outbreaks.
Council will also consider approving a new agreement with the Southwest Centre for Prehospital Care. The partnership would support medical direction and training so local firefighters can provide critical first response before paramedics arrive at emergencies involving compromised breathing, circulation or airway concerns.
Another key item is Oxford County’s response to Bill 60, the Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act. Staff note that while some proposed changes could improve efficiency and transparency, others may reduce local planning authority, create inconsistencies and increase environmental or financial risks. The report also addresses provincial proposals affecting Official Plans and Conservation Authority boundaries.
