Oxford County Council will look into the future at its next meeting
Oxford County Council is being asked to adopt the final draft of the County and Area Municipal Growth Analysis and Land Needs Assessment, a key study intended to guide long-term planning and meet provincial requirements.
The analysis forecasts continued strong population, household and employment growth in Oxford County through 2061, with the total population expected to reach about 223,600. The largest increases are projected in the county’s urban centres, with Woodstock expected to reach 76,100 residents, Tillsonburg 32,600 and Ingersoll 20,100 within the next two decades. Growth is also anticipated in fully serviced villages across the county’s five townships.
The report notes that additional settlement area lands will likely be required in most municipalities over the next 20 to 30 years to accommodate future development.
Council meets on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
