New, returning and prospective candidates, along with members of the public, are invited to attend.
Oxford County’s eight municipalities are partnering to host a candidate information session ahead of the 2026 municipal and school board election.
The session will be held Thursday, March 26 at 6 p.m., both virtually and in person at Council Chambers in the Oxford County Administration Building, 21 Reeve St., Woodstock.
New, returning and prospective candidates, along with members of the public, are invited to attend. The meeting will outline the roles and responsibilities of council members, eligibility requirements, the nomination process, and rules around campaign finances and advertising.
Presentations will be provided by representatives from the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and municipal solicitor Nigel Bellchamber. Participants are encouraged to submit questions in advance to their municipal clerk. Those attending virtually must register by emailing [election@cityofwoodstock.ca](mailto:election@cityofwoodstock.ca).
“Serving on council is a significant commitment,” said Jeff Bunn, Manager of Legislative Services and Returning Officer for the City of Woodstock, noting the session will help residents make informed decisions about running for office.
Nominations open May 1 and close Aug. 21, 2026. Election Day is Oct. 26, 2026.
