Oxford Warden calls for change in troubled Thames Valley School Board

Ryan says he's had some very frank discussions with the Minister of Education about the state of education governance in Ontario.

With a troubled Thames Valley School Board casting a shadow on education administration in the region - local leaders would like to see change.

Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan says it's legitimate to say the services that are needed in those schools and communities are significantly different today.

However, Ryan recognizes it's unlikely the Ford government has an appetite for dividing up the Thames Valley board, saying it's very off-brand for them to create another government agency.

Ryan says he's had some very frank, informal and formal discussions with the Minister of Education about the state of education governance in Ontario, including in Thames Valley.

Ryan notes that Oxford County and Zorra Township have both passed resolutions supporting the Ministry of Education's exploration of different models of education governance.
