Honeymoon Suite was a hit, Tim Hicks was a blast, and now the Campfire Concert Series is ready to close out the summer with a Canadian rock icon.
Kim Mitchell takes the stage at Sandpines in Port Rowan on Saturday, September 5, wrapping up the third season of the waterfront concert series. Organizer JR Diggs said Mitchell was specifically chosen for the final show because his music fits the feeling of one last summer long weekend.
Mitchell is known for Canadian rock staples including Patio Lanterns and Go For Soda, along with his years fronting Max Webster. Diggs said Mitchell still sounds great live and his music can connect with more than one generation.
Diggs said that makes the Labour Day weekend show a chance for the community to come together one last time before summer ends.
Never shying away from a challenge Diggs offered to serenade us in the Norfolk Today studio with a cover of Mitchell's hit Go For Soda.
The show follows successful appearances by Honeymoon Suite in July and Tim Hicks over the August long weekend.
Diggs said tickets for the September 5 finale are selling very well, and with limited capacity at the intimate waterfront venue, he expects the concert could sell out.
