Public Health seeks dog after bite at Woodstock off-leash park

The dog’s owner was not seen at the time and may have been on the other side of the park, unaware the bite had occurred.

Southwestern Public Health is asking for the public’s help after a dog bite incident at an off-leash park in Woodstock.

The incident happened on Monday, January 12, at around 8 p.m. at the off-leash dog park on Henry Street. Public health officials say a large, sandy-brown dog with Husky-like features approached a man, growled, and then bit him on the arm.

The dog’s owner was not seen at the time and may have been on the other side of the park, unaware the bite had occurred.

Public health officials are trying to identify the dog in order to confirm its rabies vaccination history, which is a standard safety step following any bite.

Anyone who recognizes the dog or knows who owns it is asked to contact Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096 and ask to speak with a Public Health Inspector.
