You can have your say on the future of parks and recreation in St. Thomas
Residents in St. Thomas are being encouraged to have their say on the future of parks, recreation, and aquatic services in the city.
The City of St. Thomas has released the Draft Parks & Recreation Master Plan Update along with a Community & Aquatic Centre Feasibility Study, both now open for public review.
City officials say the documents are designed to respond to rapid population growth and changing community needs since 2020, while helping guide long-term decisions around recreation programs and facility investments.
The plans were developed with input from residents, along with demographic and growth forecasts, participation trends, land availability and financial considerations.
As part of the final engagement phase, the City will host a drop-in public open house at the Joe Thornton Community Centre on January 22nd, running from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m.
The informal sessions will allow residents to review materials and speak directly with City staff and the consulting team.
Those unable to attend can also submit written comments by email to parksplan@stthomas.ca until February 13th.
Following the public review period, the final documents will be presented to St. Thomas City Council on March 9th, where councillors will consider next steps for parks, recreation, and aquatic services in the growing community.
