Sensi Brands expands into Langton with major cannabis acquisition

Once fully developed, the facility could produce nearly 100,000 kilograms of cannabis annually.

Sensi Brands Inc. is expanding its presence in Southwestern Ontario after acquiring a large cannabis cultivation site in Langton, Norfolk County.

Founder and CEO Tony Giorgi says the move positions the federally licensed, vertically integrated company for long-term growth in Canada and overseas. Sensi Brands operates five lines of business, including wholesale cannabis distribution, a national portfolio of more than 365 products, a medical cannabis clinic serving about 10,000 patients, a medical fulfillment marketplace, and a farm gate store at its production facility in St. Thomas.

The Langton site, formerly operated by Maricann, is among the largest cannabis campuses in Canada. Giorgi said the acquisition gives Sensi Brands direct control over its cultivation.

Once fully developed, the facility could produce nearly 100,000 kilograms of cannabis annually. Giorgi said the acquisition also provides Sensi Brands with much-needed processing, storage, and expansion capacity.

Another key benefit of the acquisition is international expansion. The Langton facility is one of only a small number of Canadian cannabis sites to hold European Union Good Manufacturing Practice (EU GMP) certification, a designation Giorgi said is a major advantage for global growth.

This certification will allow products to be exported to international medical and recreational markets, particularly in Europe and Australia. Giorgi said many countries are still building cannabis infrastructure and currently rely on imports, creating strong opportunities for Canadian companies.

Finally, Giorgi said the former Maricann site is a strong geographic and cultural fit, located in the heart of Norfolk County, a well-established and agriculturally strong region.

Sensi Brands also expects workforce growth, and new employment opportunities in Norfolk County as expansion continues.

Giorgi said Sensi Brands looks forward to working with officials in Norfolk County as it moves ahead with the Langton operation. While the site’s previous owner faced challenges, the company says it is taking a different business approach and is confident it can successfully operate and scale the facility to reach its full potential.
