The rise reflects continued high demand for services in the community.
The St. Thomas Police Service has released its annual incident and event statistics for 2025, highlighting overall activity levels and trends within the community.
According to the St. Thomas Police Service, officers responded to 24,345 incidents and events last year, represented the busiest year on record for the police service, up from 24,059 in 2024. The figures include both calls for service and proactive policing activities, with an overall increase of about 1.2 per cent.
The rise reflects continued high demand for services in the community, with ongoing investments by the Police Services Board and City Council, helping officers respond effectively despite growing pressures.
Police Chief Marc Roskamp notes that while overall activity increased modestly, police are dealing with more complex investigations, increased severity of violent crime, and ongoing challenges linked to chronic criminality. He adds the service continues to monitor trends and adjust strategies to maintain community safety and well-being.
