OPP officer cleared for any wrongdoing for June 5th arrest
The Special Investigations Unit has cleared Ontario Provincial Police officers in connection with a June 5th arrest in Tillsonburg that left a 32-year-old man with broken ribs.
The man, who initially fled police after giving a false name, was chased down and restrained after attempting to climb a fence.
Investigators say officers struck the man during the struggle before he was handcuffed and taken to hospital.
The SIU found no reasonable grounds to believe criminal offences were committed by the officers involved.
