The Tillsonburg Community Centre has officially earned SUN AWARE Sun Safety Certification, reinforcing its commitment to protecting the health of children, teens, and families year-round.
Sun safety matters in every season, including winter, when ultraviolet rays can reflect off snow and increase exposure. The certification supports lifelong sun-safe habits that help reduce the risk of melanoma and other skin cancers.
The SUN AWARE program was developed by Melanoma Canada and is designed for camps, daycares, community centres, and recreational facilities across Canada. The free program provides easy-to-follow training and best practices to ensure effective sun safety measures are in place.
Melanoma is becoming more common, especially among young adults aged 15 to 29. Just one blistering sunburn before age 20 can significantly increase future risk.
