Tillsonburg council goes to bat for Downtown Tillsonburg BIA Board
Town council has formally restated its backing of the Downtown Tillsonburg Business Improvement Area Board of Management, emphasizing the board’s role in promoting the core’s vitality and economic growth.
At its September 8th meeting, council passed a motion affirming that the DTBIA is a local board of the municipality, established under Ontario’s Municipal Act, 2001. The board is mandated to promote business and beautification initiatives in the downtown.
“Council made the Board and approves the Board members, the budget and is responsible for the wellbeing of the Board and organization,” the resolution stated.
The motion directed the town to issue a letter of support and communicate publicly that the board is a creation of council, with its mandate rooted in advancing downtown businesses and beautification.
Officials say the statement reinforces council’s commitment to maintaining a strong and successful downtown, while making clear that the municipality stands behind the DTBIA and its work.
