A new crosswalk outside the Cenotaph offers a daily reminder of the town’s enduring respect for those who served.
Tillsonburg is paying tribute to its veterans in a meaningful new way.
On Monday, members of the Tillsonburg Legion Branch #153, local veterans, and members of Town Council gathered to officially unveil the new Veterans Crosswalk, located at 200 Broadway, directly outside the Tillsonburg Town Centre at the Cenotaph.
The ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting and the first official march across the crosswalk — a simple but powerful symbol of the community’s respect and remembrance.
The design serves as a daily salute to veterans, representing both gratitude and sacrifice, and reminding residents that Tillsonburg never forgets those who served.
Mayor and council members praised the project as a permanent reflection of the town’s commitment to honouring its veterans not just on Remembrance Day, but year-round.
Residents are also encouraged to join the Remembrance Day Service today, November 11, hosted by the Tillsonburg Legion at the Cenotaph.
A silent walk with veterans will begin at 10:30 a.m. from Rolph Street at the Freedom Leaf, followed by the ceremony at 10:45 a.m., which will also be live-streamed on the Town’s Facebook page.
