St. Thomas location will resume normal business hours on Thursday, January 29.
Southwestern Public Health says it will reopen its St. Thomas office on Thursday morning following a temporary closure caused by building alarm issues.
The health unit closed its facilities at 1230 Talbot Street on Wednesday, January 28, after repeat and ongoing building alarm activations. Officials say the decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of staff and clients.
Repairs to the building’s HVAC airflow system are now underway. Southwestern Public Health has confirmed the work does not interrupt regular programs or services.
As a result, the St. Thomas location will resume normal business hours on Thursday, January 29, opening at 8:30 a.m.
In a statement, Southwestern Public Health thanked the community for its patience while the issue was investigated and addressed, noting that safety remains a top priority.
