The fair’s greatest value is community. It’s the warmth of a small-town fair and the nostalgia of growing up in the region.
The Tavistock Fair is ready to welcome visitors this weekend, with a mix of agricultural heritage and modern attractions. Organized by the Tavistock Agricultural Society, the annual event is designed to celebrate community spirit while offering something for all ages.
President Kim Urlando says the fair works to balance its farming roots with new activities to engage families and youth.
This year’s theme, Seed to Harvest, will shine through parade floats, photography entries, and exhibits that celebrate local agriculture. Urlando says the idea is also about planting the seed of community and togetherness, reminding everyone of the warmth and spirit of a small-town fair.
Visitors new to the fair can enjoy long-time favourites like the 4-H and field crop competitions, along with the always-popular heavy horse show. Fresh attractions include bubble soccer, rock climbing, cow patty bingo, and a family-friendly fastball game between the Tavistock Legends and Tavistock Hops. On Sunday, the ‘Historic Wheels’ car and tractor show is expected to draw large crowds.
For Urlando, the fair’s greatest value is community. It’s the warmth of a small-town fair and the nostalgia of growing up in the region.
The Tavistock Fair runs from Sept 5th-7th. Full details and updates are available at tavistockfallfair.com and on their Facebook and Instagram.
