The City will keep the funds directly in the community to support their residents.
Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione, OLG, local agencies, and city officials met at South Gate Centre as OLG recognized the City of Woodstock for their annual contributions as a casino and gaming host community.
The cheque is for $1,698,460, covering April 2024 to March of 2025. The funding is going to several different programs, including the city's fee assistance and community grants programs, and the Community and Social
Well-Being Reserve Fund.
A grateful Acchione says the money will stay local.
“Our partnership with OLG has a lasting impact in our community by providing direct support to local non-profit organizations, social service agencies, and individuals and families in need. This funding also helps to address critical issues in our city including mental health, homelessness and food insecurity,”
In 2025, the City of Woodstock approved a $100,000 donation via the Community Grants and Community and Social Well-Being Reserve to assist the Food Rescue Hub in securing space and equipment for a new facility. This also started a project by the Food Rescue Hub to collect unused food from restaurants, farms, and others in order to feed the hungry.
