Yellow Snowfall Warning remains in effect as heavy snow continues across the region

Hazardous travel conditions continue with snowfall, gusty winds and extreme wind chills.

A Yellow Snowfall Warning remains in effect Thursday morning as significant snowfall continues across the region, creating challenging travel conditions.

Environment Canada says snowfall totals of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected, with periods of heavy snow reducing visibility and causing localized blowing snow. The warning remains in place through the afternoon, with snowfall expected to taper off later this evening.

Forecasters say very cold wind chill values during the ongoing snowfall may further worsen conditions, particularly for drivers and those spending time outdoors. Motorists are being urged to prepare for rapidly changing road conditions, allow extra travel time, and adjust driving habits accordingly.

Snow is expected to end late this afternoon, followed by cloudy skies with a 40 per cent chance of flurries and an additional five centimetres possible. Northwest winds of 20 kilometres per hour, gusting to 40, will continue through the day, with temperatures holding near minus 11 and wind chill values approaching minus 20.

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring alerts and forecasts from Environment Canada. Reports of severe weather can be submitted by email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or by posting on X using the hashtag #ONStorm.
