The initiative has been a long-running tradition for the Kinettes.

The Tillsonburg Kinettes are once again collecting hats, mittens, and gloves to help keep the community warm this winter.

Vice President Rachelle Barrett says the initiative has been a long-running tradition for the club and continues because of the ongoing need.

She notes the Kinettes always work with the Salvation Army to make sure the items reach those most in need.

Donations of new hats, mittens, and gloves for both children and adults are welcome, with a particular need for adult sizes.

A collection box is available at Co-operators CL Smith Insurance Group, located at 19 Baldwin Street in Tillsonburg. The Kinettes will also collect items during the Tillsonburg Santa Claus Parade on November 15. Those unable to attend can contact the Kinettes through their Facebook or Instagram pages to arrange a pickup.

Barrett says she hopes to build on last year’s success.

There is still time to donate — items will be accepted until November 21. In addition to community contributions, the Kinettes use funds raised through other initiatives to purchase higher-quality winter gear at discounted prices.

Barrett says that while donations are anonymous, the Kinettes take pride in knowing the community’s generosity makes a direct difference for local families in need.
