What's Good in Tillsonburg? OPP prioritize safety for Halloween

OPP are reminding residents to prioritize safety as children take to the streets.

It's Halloween!

While the day will be filled with lots of candy and fun, the OPP are reminding residents to prioritize safety as children take to the streets.

That was Constable Andrew Gamble.

Most trick-or-treaters go out after supper, but it is now dark very early.

Ghouls and goblins usually sneak in the shadows, but if you are dressed up as one tonight, try to make yourself visible.

Gamble adds walking instead of running, sticking to familiar neighbourhoods, and using sidewalks or walking facing traffic are all encouraged.

Parents should also chat with their kids before they go out, especially if it is their first time going out on their own with friends.

Homeowners are advised to keep walkways clear of obstacles, and consider battery-operated lights instead of candles to reduce fire risks.

If you are a pet owner, that's another thing to keep in mind.

The OPP says a little planning and awareness can make Halloween a fun and safe experience for the entire community.
