Michael Holly says interest in the Max & Deb Partlo Memorial Tournament has surged.

The Tillsonburg Thunder are gearing up for a major weekend both on and off the ice. Team president and owner Michael Holly says interest in the Max & Deb Partlo Memorial Tournament has surged, with registrations filling quickly.

The long-running event, now operated by the Thunder, features A, B, and C divisions, giving recreational players, beer-league teams, and full carded rosters a chance to compete. Holly explains that while A division is wide open, the other divisions have some restrictions.

All games will be played across Tillsonburg’s arenas from March 6-8, 2026, with proceeds supporting the not-for-profit Thunder organization.

Holly says community support is the backbone of the team, which regularly partners with charities and local sports groups. That spirit continues this Saturday (Dec. 13) at 7:30 p.m. with the Thunder’s popular teddy bear toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used stuffed toy—ideally wrapped in a plastic bag.

All the donated stuffed toys go to the Salvation Army’s Christmas hamper program.

With a rugged matchup against Milverton for the teddy bear game and excitement building around the tournament, Holly says the weekend is shaping up to be one of the Thunder’s most energized yet.

You can catch the Thunder's games streamed on YouTube and those interested in registering for the tournament should email Holly at michael.holly@rogers.com
