ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks is expanding to Ingersoll
ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks is expanding its North American operations with a new 154,000-square-foot automotive components facility in Ingersoll.
The global steelmaker says the state-of-the-art blanking plant will combine cutting-edge technology with sustainable manufacturing practices. Hiring is already underway, with the facility set for a soft launch in September 2026 and a grand opening later that year.
Rob Whitmore, AMTB’s executive vice-president of new blanking, said Ingersoll topped a shortlist of 41 potential locations in Ontario and Michigan due to its skilled workforce, central location and ability to meet the company’s tight construction schedule.
Local officials praised the announcement. Mayor Brian Petrie called the investment “humbling,” saying it reflects AMTB’s commitment to partnering with local businesses and residents.
Curtis Tighe, the town’s economic development director, said the project represents more than industrial growth. “The partnership we’ve built with AMTB will create meaningful opportunities for our community, from staffing to local businesses,” he said.
Part of ArcelorMittal, one of the world’s largest steel and mining companies, AMTB specializes in advanced laser welding and ablation technologies for lighter and stronger vehicle structures. The company says the Ingersoll facility will showcase next-generation manufacturing, including AI-driven automation and real-time quality control, while creating new career opportunities in the region.
Construction has begun, with production machinery expected by the end of this year.
