Changes are coming to how Oxford County deals with waste collection and you can read about it in a new newsletter that's landing in mailboxes.

Green bins will be used to put food and biodegradable waste curbside in Woodstock and South-West Oxford, beginning in January.  The program will be rolled out to all of Oxford County in the Spring of 2027.

A report in the Woodstock Sentinel Review says green bins will start arriving at doorsteps this fall.  The report also notes that in the new year, the cost of the county's blue box program will shift from municipalities to the companies that produce the waste through packaging. The changes falls under the Ontario government's so called extended producer responsibility system.

There's also a new curbside recycling program for institutional customers, commercial properties and small businesses that aren't covered by the province's recycling initiative.
