Fanshawe Campus prepares to welcome future students at fall open house

Fanshawe College is opening its doors on Saturday, November 29, inviting future students to explore programs, connect with faculty and try hands-on activities at its campuses.

Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Joel Van Bynen, Associate Dean at the Fanshawe College St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus says the open house gives prospective students a true sense of what life is like at Fanshawe.

Visitors can tour program labs, meet instructors and connect with current students who can speak to their own experiences. And as Van Bynen notes,  the event is just as valuable for students who are undecided about their future path.

While Fanshawe’s London campus draws many visitors each year, the St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus offers a different kind of experience shares Van Bynen, one that is more personal and community-focused.

The St. Thomas campus currently offers programs in Early Childhood Education, Personal Support Worker, Renewable Energy Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technician-Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Techniques CNC/CAM, Welding Techniques, and Pre-Health Sciences. Many of these programs feed directly into in-demand fields across Elgin County and the province.

Visitors can expect to see labs in full operation during the open house, with machines running, projects underway, and professors available to answer questions. Prospective students who register at the event will also be entered for a chance to win $5,000 in tuition credit.

Van Bynen says that the open house will also highlight Fanshawe’s growing continuing education options for working adults looking to upgrade skills or pursue new credentials through flexible evening or weekend courses.

Fanshawe representatives from student life, admissions, financial aid and more will be on hand to support anyone considering college in the coming year.
