Oxford Reads invites residents to explore Ted Nolan’s powerful memoir through community events, culminating in a live conversation with the author on November 7.
Readers across Oxford County are being invited to celebrate this year’s Oxford Reads selection, Life in Two Worlds: A Coach’s Journey from the Reserve to the NHL and Back, by former NHL player and coach Ted Nolan.
The annual community reading initiative, presented by the Oxford County Library (OCL) and Woodstock Public Library (WPL), connects local residents through shared reading experiences, discussions, and events that explore powerful themes of resilience, culture, and connection.
This year’s fall programming has included creative workshops, book clubs, and even community skating events inspired by Nolan’s story — all leading up to the highly anticipated Oxford Reads Gala on November 7.
The gala, hosted by Sarah Acchione and Chris McMillan, will feature an in-depth conversation with Ted Nolan himself, offering audiences a chance to hear first-hand about his remarkable journey from the Garden River First Nation to the bright lights of the NHL.
Nolan will share reflections on perseverance, identity, and overcoming barriers, while exploring how his experiences shaped both his career and his understanding of life between two worlds.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions, purchase copies of his memoir, and take part in a book signing after the discussion.
Organizers say Oxford Reads continues to be a cornerstone of the county’s cultural programming, designed to bring people together through storytelling and shared dialogue.
