Gridlock at council over Oxford Road 9 project

A tie vote has stalled progress on the $12–$15 million infrastructure plan.

Legislative gridlock continues over the direction of the Oxford Road 9 - King Street Ingersoll infrastructure project.

Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan tells us the financing is complex based on the timing.

Ryan says that the half dozen project quotes which range between $12.5 million and $15.7 million are over what the County has budgeted for.

A recorded vote on the project tender ended in a tie and a tie vote is a defeat.   Ryan says some municipal leaders want to wait while others say do it now because the cost could increase in the future.

Ryan tells us as the leader of County Council he's disappointed the project has been up-in-the-air for so long noting the indecision is impacting residents in the area.

Ryan says the question of whether to proceed will be before council again this fall.
