All three westbound lanes were closed for several hours as firefighters battled the flames.
Traffic is moving again on Highway 401 westbound after a vehicle fire closed all lanes near Mill Street in South-West Oxford Township yesterday.
The Oxford Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says the incident happened Wednesday, September 10, 2025, around 11:30 a.m. when a tractor trailer caught fire on the shoulder of the highway. South-West Oxford Fire and Oxford County Paramedic Services quickly responded to the scene.
Emergency crews worked to contain the blaze and ensure driver safety. No injuries were reported. All three westbound lanes were closed for several hours as firefighters battled the flames and officials removed the damaged vehicle.
By late afternoon, OPP confirmed that the westbound lanes had fully reopened, restoring normal traffic flow. Drivers are reminded to remain alert and give space to emergency responders when approaching incidents on Ontario highways.
