Toronto begins its season on the road against Minnesota.
The 2025–26 PWHL season officially opens tonight, and fans across Norfolk and Oxford counties have plenty to cheer for as two local athletes hit the ice with the Toronto Sceptres.
Waterford’s Elaine Chuli could get the start in net as Toronto begins its season on the road against Minnesota. Chuli, one of Canada’s most experienced and decorated women’s goaltenders, signed a one-year deal with Toronto after two seasons as a backup in Montreal. Local supporters will be watching closely to see her return to a starting role.
Oxford County native Ella Shelton will also be staying in Toronto a little longer. She arrived from the New York Sirens in June and is expected to be a key player on defence. Shelton has signed a one-year contract extension with the Sceptres for the 2025–26 season.
The PWHL’s opening night also features Vancouver hosting Seattle.
