Man charged following pursuit in London's south end

A 21-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he was caught driving nearly 70 kilometres over the speed limit in London’s south end.

Around 8 p.m. on Monday, officers with the London Police Service Road Safety Section were on Exeter Road near Middleton Avenue when they observed a black Ford F-150 travelling 148 km/h in an 80 zone.

Police say the driver ran a red light at Wharncliffe Road South and briefly accelerated from officers before coming to a stop. As the man exited his vehicle, the truck rolled forward and struck a police cruiser, causing minor damage.

The accused is charged with seven offences, including dangerous operation, impaired driving, failure to stop for police, and racing a motor vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in court on November 13th.
