London men face assault with weapon, break and enter charges

Police were called after a man checking on a vacant property found two suspects inside.

London police say two men are facing multiple charges after officers interrupted an alleged break and enter in the city’s north end over the weekend.

Police were called on Sunday after a man checking on a vacant property near Highbury Avenue North and Kilally Road found two suspects inside. Investigators say one man wielded a hammer and the other a metal pipe before chasing the property owner. An officer in the area intervened, arresting one suspect as the other fled.

With help from the victim, the second man was found and arrested shortly after. No injuries were reported.

Gerald Reelis, 41, and Austin Lake, 21, both of London, are jointly charged with assault with a weapon and break, enter and theft. Reelis also faces a breach of probation charge.

Both are due in court January 8th.
