A 28-year-old man is in custody following a weapons investigation that left one person seriously injured in London earlier this week.

Members of the London Police Service arrested Ali Muhammad Omar on Wednesday afternoon at a residence near Carlyle Drive and Speight Crescent. Omar has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and remains in custody. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

The arrest follows a violent incident that occurred around 5 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Oxford Street West and Wharncliffe Road North. Officers responding to a 9-1-1 call found an adult male suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police continue to investigate with the help of the Patrol Operations Investigative Section. Anyone who may have been in the area or has dash-cam or surveillance footage is asked to contact London Police or Crime Stoppers.
