London on pace to deliver 11,800 new homes by 2026.
London has exceeded its federal housing targets for the second straight year, issuing more than 4,200 building permits between September 2024 and September 2025 as part of its Housing Accelerator Fund commitments.
The City released its second annual HAF update on Monday, reporting 4,284 permits—well above the yearly target of 3,991—keeping London on pace to deliver more than 11,800 new homes by 2026.
“Exceeding our HAF targets two years in a row reflects the strength of London’s partnerships and our shared focus on solutions,” Mayor Josh Morgan said. “Through innovation, collaboration, and determination, we’re creating the conditions for more homes to be built across our city and support affordability.”
Several initiatives supported by the HAF have accelerated growth, including expanded zoning for higher-density development along rapid transit, office-to-residential conversions that have added 213 downtown units, and transit-oriented development grants contributing to more than 1,000 homes near transit corridors.
The City also highlighted detached Additional Residential Unit loans, partnerships with non-profits to expand supportive and affordable housing, and $9.6 million in infrastructure upgrades enabling up to 12,000 new homes in developing areas such as Second Street, Killaly Road, Mud Creek, Oxford Street and Hyde Park.
The Highly Supportive Housing Program is bringing nearly 250 units online for people at risk of homelessness, while a Housing Needs Assessment completed in April identified long-term gaps and priorities.
“London is gaining real momentum,” said Scott Mathers, deputy city manager of housing and community growth. “Through smarter investments and fewer barriers, we’re building housing faster and setting the stage for sustainable growth.”
Through the HAF, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation is providing up to $81.4 million to London between 2023 and 2027.
