Ontario invests $2.6M to train London-area workers for construction, manufacturing jobs

London and surrounding areas are getting to help to train for in-demand jobs in construction

The Ontario government is investing more than $2.6 million to help workers in London and surrounding areas train for in-demand jobs in construction and manufacturing.

Premier Doug Ford announced the funding Monday, saying it will prepare people for “better jobs and bigger paycheques” while protecting Ontario’s workforce from economic pressures, including U.S. tariffs.

The money comes through the province’s $2.5-billion Skills Development Fund, which has trained more than one million workers since 2021.

Recipients include IBEW Local 120, which will train 91 people for electrical trades, and Literacy Link South Central, which will run two programs supporting nearly 550 participants.

Labour Minister David Piccini said the investment will ensure workers are “better trained for better jobs,” while strengthening Ontario’s economy.
