Oxford County is asking residents to help keep roads safe by reporting potholes online through its new Service Oxford portal.
Public Works crews are currently repairing cracks and potholes across more than 670 centre-line kilometres of County roadways. Officials say potholes are common this time of year due to fluctuating temperatures, melting snow, rain and frequent snow plowing. Small cracks can quickly grow as vehicles drive over wet pavement.
Residents can now report potholes online at Oxford County’s Service Oxford portal. The form allows users to pinpoint the exact location on a map, upload a photo and request updates from Public Works staff.
When submitting a report, residents should include the street name, which lane is affected, and the approximate size of the pothole.
Under provincial legislation and safety standards, Oxford County must maintain roads in a good state of repair. Staff respond to reported or observed potholes within set timelines.
Drivers are also reminded to slow down safely, avoid puddles and slush, check tire pressure regularly, and have their vehicle inspected if damage is suspected.
