Oxford MP introduces 'Jail Not Bail' Act

Oxford MP believes new approach is needed to crack down on repeat offenders

Oxford MP Arpan Khanna introduced Bill C-242, the Jail Not Bail Act, in the House of Commons.

Khanna says the bill is designed to crack down on repeat violent offenders and reverse what he calls the Liberal government’s failed bail policies.

The proposed legislation would repeal the “Principle of Restraint” and strengthen bail conditions for major offences such as firearms, assault, and human trafficking.

Khanna says Canadians deserve a justice system that prioritizes community safety over repeat offenders.
