Police looking into fatal collision in South-West Oxford

A 30-year-old from Strathroy passed away in the collision.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal crash in South-West Oxford after a sedan and transport truck collided at a rural intersection Sunday evening.

Emergency crews were called to Culloden Line and Mount Elgin Road around 6:52 p.m. on August 17.

According to Oxford County OPP, a 30-year-old driver from Strathroy suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.

A passenger in the sedan was airlifted to a trauma centre with injuries that remain under assessment. The driver of the transport truck was not injured.

Both Culloden Line (between Ebenezer Road and Daniel Road) and Mount Elgin Road (between Pigram Line and Dereham Line) were closed for several hours while police investigated. Roads have since reopened.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to contact Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
