‘Project Home Safe’ to tackle holiday impaired driving

The goal is simple: ensure that everyone gets home safely during the holiday season.

As the holiday season kicks into gear, the St. Thomas Police Service is stepping up its efforts to keep local roads safe with the launch of a new impaired driving enforcement initiative.

In addition to the annual Festive RIDE campaign, which most residents are familiar with, Corporate Communications Coordinator, Samantha Wakefield shares the aim of Project Home Safe.

The goal is simple: ensure that everyone gets home safely during the holiday season.

The St. Thomas Police Service emphasizes that December consistently brings an increase in alcohol and drug-related driving incidents, making enforcement and visibility especially important.

With holiday parties and staff get togethers continuing over the coming weeks, Wakefield encourages anyone who will be drinking or using substances to plan ahead.

The St. Thomas Police Service thanks residents for making responsible choices and helping keep the city’s roads safe this holiday season.
