SIU looking into circumstances surrounding downtown London crash
Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a collision in downtown London left four people in hospital following a police attempt to stop a pickup truck.
The Special Investigations Unit says that shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, an officer tried to pull over a truck after spotting a passenger riding in its bed near King and Maitland streets.
Officials say the driver fled, and a short time later the same vehicle was involved in a two-car crash near Queen and William streets.
The SIU says the driver ran away from the scene.
Paramedics transported four people to hospital with injuries described as ranging from minor to serious and life-threatening.
