Old Man Winter has made his presence felt in across southwestern Ontario
A powerful round of snow squalls is sweeping across the region today, with forecasters warning of dangerous travel conditions and rapidly changing weather.
Environment Canada says snowfall totals of 20 to 40 centimetres are expected, with some areas likely to see even higher amounts. Heavy bands of lake-effect snow off Lake Huron are pushing well inland, creating periods of near-zero visibility as strong westerly winds gust up to 60 km/h.
Officials say the blowing snow and sudden whiteouts could lead to road closures, and drivers should be prepared for deteriorating conditions throughout the day.
The squalls are expected to ease during the evening.
