Byrne brings 15 years of senior experience to STEGH Foundation leadership role.
The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation's new executive director brings 15 years of senior-level experience to the facility. Ryan Byrne garnered experience in marketing, communications and fundraising at St. Joseph's Health Care London Foundation, Huron University, Western University, Fanshawe College, Goodwill Industries and the Fowler-Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic. Byrne says he is excited for the move to St. Thomas to support the rapid influx of newcomers, drawn to the region with firms like PowerCo and Vianode laying down roots in the Yarmouth Yards industrial Park. Byrne notes, "We have to have the best healthcare possible, and I think STEGH is the place to deliver that."
Byrne admits he is thrilled to join the foundation, with the opportunity to inspire foundation team members, donors and community partners.
In a media release, the foundation notes Byrne's "Vision, energy and proven ability to inspire teams and stakeholders will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our support for STEGGH and the patients and families who depend on it."
Byrne points out that since its inception 40 years ago, the hospital foundation has raised $93 million through contributions from the community.
He elaborates on how those millions of dollars have impacted the hospital in a new era of healthcare.
Healthcare is becoming more complex, Bryne indicates, and faces new threats including cybersecurity issues.
As executive director, Byrne will lead the foundation's strategic initiatives, focusing on philanthropic strategy, donor and stakeholder acquisition, digital engagement, and mission-aligned innovation.
The foundation advises Byrnes' appointment, "Marks an exciting new chapter for the foundation, as he brings vision, energy, and a commitment to advancing its mission of supporting exceptional healthcare and community impact."
