Three London men charged in alleged long-term care security fraud

Documents were allegedly used to speed up the placement of individuals as security guards in long-term care facilities across Ontario.

Ontario’s Serious Fraud Office has charged three London men following a complex investigation into an alleged fraud scheme involving security guard jobs in long-term care homes.

The investigation began in July 2024 after concerns were raised about falsified employment eligibility documents. Police allege the documents were used to speed up the placement of individuals as security guards in long-term care facilities across Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, Vishal Sharma, 28, Jatin Sharma, 22, and Deepika Sharma, 34, all of London, were arrested and charged under the Criminal Code. Each faces charges of fraud over $5,000 and uttering a forged document.

Police say the accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in London on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers. Authorities also acknowledged support from several provincial and federal agencies involved in the probe.
