The Town of Tillsonburg is lowering flags at all municipal properties for one week to honour the victims of the tragic shooting in Tumbler Ridge.

Town officials say the gesture is a symbol of collective mourning and support for everyone affected by the heartbreaking events.

In a statement, the mayor said the community is deeply saddened by the tragedy.

“Our hearts go out to the families, friends, and the entire community as you navigate this incredibly difficult time,” the mayor said. “As a small town, we understand how closely knit a community is — when one hurts, everyone hurts. This morning we are hurting as a nation.”

The mayor added that Tillsonburg stands in solidarity with Tumbler Ridge, offering strength, compassion, and support from one small community to another.

The Town extended its deepest condolences and encouraged residents to keep the victims and their loved ones in their thoughts during this time of national mourning.
