TVDSB and N’Amerind Friendship Centre renew partnership for Wiingashk Alternative Secondary School

Leaders at the TVDSB have signed a MOU with the N’Amerind (London) Friendship Centre

The Thames Valley District School Board and the N’Amerind (London) Friendship Centre have renewed their partnership to support Indigenous students through the Wiingashk Alternative Secondary School Program.

A new memorandum of understanding was signed by TVDSB Director of Education Bill Tucker and NFC Executive Director Joel Kennedy, reaffirming the collaborative delivery of the program.

Wiingashk Alternative Secondary School operates within the N’Amerind Friendship Centre and provides Indigenous learners with a culturally grounded education that emphasizes identity building, well-being and academic achievement. The program integrates Indigenous knowledge, cultural teachings and community connections into daily learning.

Under the renewed agreement, the school board and the friendship centre will continue to work together on student placement, teacher selection and maintaining cultural integrity throughout the program. TVDSB will provide curriculum reflecting Indigenous histories, cultures and perspectives, while NFC will supply classroom space, cultural programming and wrap-around supports.

Students interested in enrolling can visit the N’Amerind Friendship Centre at 260 Colborne St. in London or call 519-452-2567 for more information.
