After two 2026 budget deliberation sessions, Oxford County Council is scheduled to vote on the spending package December 10th
Two down, one to go.
After a second round of 2026 budget deliberations, Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan says council is approaching the finish.
On paper the draft budget proposes a 5.1 percent increase in the property tax levy. That translates to an annual increase of $66 in Woodstock and $75 elsewhere in the county.
The formal budget input process is finished but Ryan says residents can still bring their concerns to members of council before the vote.
We asked Ryan about the proposed five percent increase in the tax levy which is roughly two percent more than the combined Consumer and Construction price indexes. Ryan says three percent is on the money if you're only considering the traditional areas municipal responsibility.
From his position as leader of the Oxford County Council, Ryan expects to see changes to the proposed budget before the scheduled Dec 10th vote.
Ryan says in the end, what council votes on is a total budget package.
