The County says there are no safety risks to the community, and the facility continues to meet all requirements.
Residents in Tillsonburg have raised concerns about strong odours coming from the town’s wastewater treatment plant, and Oxford County officials say steps are already underway to address the issue.
The County confirmed that while the odour has been noticeable in recent weeks, there are no safety risks to the community, and the facility continues to meet all requirements set by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks.
According to Oxford County, the smell is being released through the new rooftop HVAC system when wastewater is processed through initial screening.
We will provide a more detailed update tomorrow following our interview with the head of wastewater treatment operations.
