Council in Woodstock is reviewing its 2026 operating budget this week with meetings on Tuesday and Thursday
City staff have presented Woodstock council with an overview of the proposed 2026 operating budget, outlining a base property tax increase of 2.9 per cent.
The proposed base increase would add $93.76 to the annual tax bill of the average single-family detached home. The base budget reflects the estimated cost of maintaining existing service levels and programs.
If council approves all additional funding requests — including improvements, new services and initiatives, staffing and equipment — the tax increase would rise to 6.81 per cent. That would amount to an additional $220.40 annually for the average single-family household.
Two special budget meetings are scheduled for February 24th and February 26th at 5 p.m., when department staff will present detailed budget proposals and answer questions from council members.
Budgets from the Police Board, Library Board and Art Gallery Board will be presented at the regular council meeting on March 5th. The final 2026 budget is slated for adoption at the March 19th council meeting.
