Residents of Woodstock given some tips on leaf disposal
As fall settles in, the City of Woodstock is reminding residents of the options available for managing fallen leaves.
Mulching and composting are encouraged, as mulched leaves enrich soil, retain moisture, and help reduce weed growth over time. Residents can also drop leaves off free of charge at the Yard Waste Depot at 944 James Street, open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Leaves must be emptied from bags before disposal.
Curbside loose leaf collection runs from October 20 to November 28. However, due to limited leaf fall in many areas, crews are initially focusing on zones with significant accumulation. City staff will rotate through all nine collection zones throughout the season.
Residents are reminded not to bag their leaves, as bagged materials can’t be collected by city equipment. A map of collection zones is available online and in What’s on Woodstock. Updates on which zones are being serviced can be found on the City’s social media channels.
